The newly eskinned chief of the Sakana Traditional Council, Naa Tinmaalinaa (Develooment chief) has constructed a six unit classroom block project in the Nadowli Kaleo constituency.
A modern and fully furnished six unit classroom block with ancillary facilities was completed and handed over to the people of Kaluri at the Nadowli Kaleo constituency in the Upper West Region.
What was more exciting with the people was the alacrity with which the project was executed. The contractor started and completed the project within three (3) months and the quality of the work is not in doubt.
The chief of the community, Naa Alhaji Ibrahim Baaladong Tendaana II, narrated how the project came about. In his speech, he chronicled a litany of developmental projects Naa Tinmaalinaa Rt. Hon. Speaker executed. He said Naa Rt. Hon. Speaker connected their community to the national grid and drilled a number of boreholes that saved the women from petty fight and quarrels. Time could not permit him to list the numerous projects he executed. In his statement, he said the pupils were studying under tree. Any time it threatened to rain, the pupils had to go home and the school closed. He said that went on for sometime and because of the pathetic situation of the pupils, it attracted the media attention. When the story was published, it did not take time and a delegation from the office of Naa Tinmaalinaa Rt. Hon. Speaker visited the community to assess the situation, the chief said. The chief without delay, expressed on behalf of the community, their profound appreciation for all that Naa Tinmaalinaa Rt. Hon. Speaker did for them.
The assistant head teacher, madam Jenet, also expressed her heart felt appreciation on behalf of the staff to the new chief, Naa Rt. Hon. Speaker Bagbin. She added the ordeal they went through with the students studying under tree. She went on to appeal to Naa Rt. Hon. Speaker to again extend his helping hand to them with a Kindagartin block. She pointed to a dilapidated structure where the pupils study in. She therefore made a plea that Naa Tinmaalinaa ASK Bagbin should keep it at the back of his mind so that anytime things are better, he could help them again.
Before the inspection of the facility, Naa Tinmaalinaa Rt. Hon. Speaker Bagbin made a brief speech. In his speech, he thanked the people of Kaluri for their good works. He particularly made mention of the peaceful nature of the community. He said the perpetual peace they enjoy is what brings the development.
There cannot be development if there is no peace. He commended the chief and the entire community for maintaining perpetual peace and called on them to keep the good works. He acknowledged their unwavering support particularly the time he used to seek their votes to represent them in parliament.
Naa Tinmaalinaa ASK Bagbin said he was there to inspect the project and inform them to start using the facility until such a time formal handing over/commisioning can be done. Naa Rt. Hon. Speaker said that he does not commission his projects ever since he became a member of parliament and as a result some people go on air and say that he did not do anything for the people of Nadowli Kaleo forgetting that the water they drink, the electricity they are enjoying, the schools their children attend, the roads they ply on and all the development projects they enjoy in the constituency were by his effort. He informed the people that he is the longest serving member of parliament even now that he is the speaker of parliament. The question he asked was that if he had not done anything for the people of Nadowli Kaleo as some people claim, how did he manage to represent them all that while? It was because of the good works he did for his constituents.
Naa Tinmaalinaa ASK Bagbin finally admonished the chief and the entire community to take good care of the facility. He was then taken through the entire facility for the inspection.
