30th June, 2023 will remain a red letter day in the history of Wa Senior High School.
The Venerable Speaker of Ghana's Parliament, The Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin paid a visit to the Wa Senior High School.
The visit, that was just expected to be a humble home coming for a pioneer student of the institution, lit the entire campus with sparks of jubilation and gratitude.
Like the cured lepper as presented in Lk 17 : 11- 19. The Speaker's visit was just a tip in the iceberg of a chain of programs the Speaker has planned, to show gratitude to his Alma Mater for laying a solid foundation in his life, which later became the springboard to bring him thus far.
The Headmaster, Staff and Students who couldn't hide their elation for the kind gesture of the Rt. Hon. Speaker, eulogised him for not turning his back to his humble beginning.
They ceased the opportunity by playing Oliver Twist, to request a spacious dining hall, an 18 unit classroom block, additional boys and girls dormitories.
Mr. Speaker on his part thanked the headmaster and staff, for the rousing welcome. He thanked them for the good work they are doing to brighten the future of the students under their care. He admonished the students to take the opportunity of the infrastructure being provided, to lay a solid foundation for their future. He counselled the students to believe in themselves, identify their charisms and strive to attain their God ordained heights.
The Rt. Hon. Speaker of Ghana's Parliament, who is also the President of all Speakers and Heads of Parliament in Africa, as well as The President of all the Parliaments in the Commonwealth, inspected on-going works on a two thousand seater capacity ultra modern auditorium he has personally initiated to be constructed for the Wa Snr.High School.
The project that is valued to cost twelve million, eight hundred thousand Ghana Cedis is 20 % complete now, as reported by the cite consultant. The project that began in February, this year, is expected to be complete by February, 2024.
Speaker Bagbin thanked the contractor and the workers for the quality work done so far. He encouraged them to work diligently within the scheduled time frame, to ready the edifice for the 50th anniversary celebration of the school, which is scheduled to come off sometime, next year. To solve the immediate need for a public address system befitting the status of the school, The Rt. Hon. Speaker promised a modern public address system, which is to be delivered within the space of one month from yesterday.
To show their depth of appreciation, the Headmaster and Staff ardoned the Speaker with a unique traditional smock, which the Speaker appreciated so much.
Speaker Bagbin is scheduled to join the Traditional Authorities and People of Takpo this afternoon 1/07/2023, where a coronation ceremony is organised in his honour.
