The Member of Parliament for Nandom Constituency, Hon. Richard Kuuire , has presented various pieces of equipment to master craftspersons and apprentices within the Nandom Municipality. The presentation ceremony was attended by the Municipal Chief Executive, the Constituency Chairman, and some Constituency Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress.
The equipment presented included hair dryers, industrial sewing machines, knitting machines, building tool kits and other essential work tools.
The Youth Wing of the NDC in Nandom Constituency led an intensive campaign on the party's flagship programme, National Apprenticeship Programme across all communities in the municipality. The sustained engagement of the Youth Wing with craftspersons and apprentices contributed significantly to the constituency’s large beneficiary numbers under the programme.
As of 6th June, 2026, 17 out of 38 master craftspersons and 85 out of 190 apprentices respectively benefited from the programme in Nandom Constituency. The remaining 21 master craftpersons and their apprentices will also be sorted out in a not too distant future. Equipment such looms are being produced, fitting toolkits, electrical toolkits and many others are also being procured by the Authority for the beneficiaries.
Additionally, as of 6th June, 2026, all the 190 apprentices had received a monthly stipend of GHS 300.00 each as training allowance, as confirmed by the beneficiaries during the event. The allowance is intended to support apprentices throughout their training period.
The master craftspersons are expected to receive their training allowance within the month of June.
The ultimate objective of the programme is to create sustainable employment opportunities for the youth and reduce poverty within the municipality and Ghana at large as promised by the NDC prior to the 2024 elections.
Beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to the Member of Parliament, Hon. Richard Kuuire, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Anthony Ziniel and the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.
Special commendation was also extended to the Constituency Youth Wing, Derbie Raphael, Isaiah Debzie Tang and Martin Tierobome of the NDC for their dedication in sensitizing, mobilizing and following up with artisans throughout the process for this first batch of beneficiaries.
Registration is currently underway for this year's beneficiaries and one can be part of it by obtaining a business certificate, Ghana Card and registering on the National Youth Authority's website. The whole programme is rolled-out by the National Youth Authority under the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment.
