It was electrifying when the entire hall of the Jirapa Community Health Nursing Training College was filled with students nurses and party executives across the length and breadth of the country. The programme was organised by the TEIN executives under the auspices of the regional youth secretariat to welcome fresh members into the TEIN fraternity.
The programme was attended by constituency, regional and national executives. This shows how serious the formidable youth front of the party is poise to capturing power in the coming general election. Some parliamentary candidates of the party, Mr Anthony Asumah and Hon. Cletus Dapilah were also in attendance at the programme and that actually moved the programme to a certain level. The patron, Mr Lazirus welcomed the all the fresh members and the dignitaries and also called on the members to support the executives to execute their task. He advised them to be one another's keepers.
In addition to that one madam Hellen Zaato a former Assembly Woman and Presiding member advised the students to be humble, hard working and above all respectful. She referred to herself as the youngest pensioner in the region. Speaking on the topic, "Women Involvement In Politics" he said, "you can see that I am still very young? I am the youngest pensioner in the region. I am still looking young and fresh because I lived a good life during my youth days. I humble myself, respect every body and work hard to the admiration of my co-workers".
The national TEIN coordinator, Mr. David Dari, reiterated and encouraged the students to work hard to bring the party to power. He said, "the national youth organiser, Mr Pablo, and the regional youth organiser, NBD Dery Nicodemus and their lieutenants are working hard to bring the party to power. In the light of that the national youth organiser is working to get all TEIN members national TEIN ID cards. This will identify and recognises you when the party secures victory in the 2020 election. So, you really need to work hard. You can do that when you take active part in the party's activities at your branch and constituency level".
The deputy regional TEIN coordinator, Mr Joseph Amewuga, spoke on the topic, "Responsibilities of TEIN Members Towards Victory 2020". He told the members to be proactive and partake in the party's activities at their constituencies. He said, "one of your roles is to take part in the organisation of programmes at your branch and constituency level. You also need to take active part in campaigning and avail yourselves as party agents to police the ballot boxes on the election day. You also need to conduct research in your own way to support the party with accurate information",
Hon Cletus Dapilah, the parliamentary candidate and former DCE for Jirapa, spoke extensively on the need to be committed and loyal to NDC as a party instead of being loyal to personalities. He first of all told the students the history of NDC in Jirapa constituency and went further to advise members of TEIN on their way of life on campus and their constituencies.
Hon. Cletus Dapilah, passionately charged the students and executives to work with humility. He stated, "you must be humble in the discharge of your duties. Be humble to everybody and work hard. He added, "let me use this opportunity to advise you all that you need to be committed and loyal to NDC as a party and not any individual. Individuals will die but the party will continue to live. So what happens to you when the person you are loyal to cease to exist?
If you are loyal to the party, you will always do things in the interest of the party. You will never vote against the party because a party member has offended you. You will not reject the party because you didn't get goodies from a party member you so much trust and rely on. The party is bigger than any individual, the reason why you need to be committed and loyal to the NDC as a party".
The chairman for the occasion Mr. Titus Polkuu, the deputy regional youth organiser in charge of operations and TEIN coordinator, re-emphasised the need for the students to work hard, remain humble, respectful and above all loyal to NDC as a party. He said the regional youth organiser, Mr NBD Dery Nicodemus, is committed to ensuring that TEIN is well empowered and properly structured to work towards the 2020 victory. He stated, "the regional youth commander, Mr NBD Dery Nicodemus, is working tirelessly with his able lieutenants to reposition and empower TEIN so that we can all work together to deliver all the eleven seats to NDC with John Dramani Mahama as the president".
