About three people have so far succinctly written on the subject matter, "students' politics in COLTEK". I happen to be the forth person to have written on the same subject matter. This is to tell you that the subject matter on which we are belabouring on is of great concern not only to the writers but also the entire student populace. Generally, writers write to unearth and chastise the odds that have the pendency of plunging the society into mayhem, be it violence, an outbreak, and any other incidence that are inimical to the peaceful survival of human beings within the catchment area. Also, columnists, write to commend people and leaders who have probably chalked a significant number of successes or set some records that cannot go naturally unnoticed. Constructive criticisms, education, entertainment among others are some of the things writers write on to reshaping the society into an appreciable level if not to its perfect level.
Having clearly and cleverly carried home the motives, aims and objectives of most writers, I therefore wish to proceed with the lacing of some words to add my small but loud voice to the three already heard voices that have loudly drummed home the reasons why students of COLTEK should rise vehemently against this usual convenient game theory of dress and "policies" deceptions. It is usually said in my local language that "too much meat does not spoil the soup". Had it not been so, I would have wished to remained silent on this issue since a good number of people have brilliantly written on it. Another thing that would have also made me reserve my take on this matter is an absolute change of attitude by both the aspirants and the students, unfortunately things remained how they were after my colleague learned writers came out with their articles. This is what propelled me to make a conscious effort to reiterate our (the writers) unrepentant penchant to advise the aspirants to adopt a more discerning, innovative and practically results oriented ways of campaign that will serve as a projector to magnify their level of proactiveness and commitment to solving the perennial problems of delay in releasing results, inadequate seats at the pavilion and summer huts, consistent insecurity on campus, just to mention a few.
In fact, there is no gainsay that the status quo of quality leadership on this campus has been drastically reduced to a level that even any unright thinking person can describe it as child's play. Why do I say so? You will agree with me that nice dressing, well rehearsed speeches parroted in our lecture rooms and shamelessly packaged unfeasible and mouthwatering political policies have been the benchmark for determining a good leader. It is notably clear that the visibly important attributes that characterize a quality leader are invariably overlooked by students. For instance, aspirants backgrounds, previous experiences, confidence level, intelligently creative skills among others are usually relegated to the grassroot. How do we then get quality leaders in this institution? No wonder we usually resort to bitter complains immediately when they fail to deliver to our expectations. We must be smart enough this time round to disallow these pre-elections political saints from playing their usual tactical zero-sum political games with us.
It is notoriously clear that square pegs are mostly place in round holes and that is why COLTEK remains as it is for so many years. Students must undo the religious, tribal, ethnic and political alignment this time if we sincerely want to significantly transform this institution to commensurate its tertiary status. The result in some of these alignments is the monetisation of our campus politics that usually unmeritoriously give some undignified village champions a voice they would never have had among great, intelligent men and women of exceptional quality. This indeed has been an epitomic index case of leadership decay in this institution. It is yet another time to decide who lead us. We must at this time come with an absolute spirited defense against all odds that will ensure an unparalleled progress of our noble institution.
The time has once again come for students to wage war against the grossly unrefined trademarks of the usual power seeking rhetorics in order to select leaders with unquestionable competence to lead UEWK to the promise land. Students have for far too long allowed the element of morose delectation and unsympathetic joy to eat up their sense of accurate judgment. It is abundantly glaring that the existence of such gross mismatch between the ideological orientation of the current leadership and some parochially motivated interest in some of them is responsible for their inability to fulfil their campaign promises as of now.
In conclusion, it is within these reasons, I advanced my argument against the entrenched decay of the status quo of students' parameters in choosing leaders on this campus. I am by this article, making a clarion call on students of COLTEK to wake up from the slumber of persistently rewarding students' aspirants who consistently lie and deceive the entire student populace for votes.
